We are excited to announce that our very own Coach Luke Klingler has been named Athletic Director and Head Football Coach of Somerville ISD! Congratulations Coach Klingler! Luke has served as the Somerville Yeguas’ Offensive Coordinator for the past 3 football seasons while also coaching track, baseball and junior high basketball. Coach Klingler graduated from Cinco Ranch High School in 2014 and went on to attend Blinn College and the University of Houston as a Quarterback. He was a member of the 2015, Peach Bowl Champion, Houston Cougar Football Team and is now a Houston Cougar Alumni. Coach Klingler is currently in his 7th year teaching and coaching. Prior to being in Somerville, Coach Klingler spent 1 year teaching Health and coaching Tight Ends and Running Backs at James E. Taylor High School in Katy ISD. He also spent 3 years in Brenham ISD as a Special Education teacher while coaching Quarterbacks, Offensive Line, Linebackers, track and junior high basketball. Coach Klingler and his wife Morgan have an 8 month old daughter named Landry.

Congratulations to five members of the Somerville Band for being selected to the TMEA / ATSSB All-Region Middle School Band. The contest was held on Saturday, December 14th at Smithville High School. There were over thirty schools represented by 700 students. in this rigorous individual try-out. The following Somerville students were chosen:
Faith Fernandez - Bb Soprano Clarinet - Symphonic (1st) Band
Mason Novosad - Cornet / Trumpet - Concert (2nd) Band
Ariana Zamora Ramirez - Tenor Trombone - Concert Band

This past Saturday, the Intermediate Student Council successfully hosted a pancake breakfast for students from Pre-k to 4th grade. The event showcased teamwork and community spirit, thanks to the efforts of many, including Mr. and Mrs. Wiser for coordinating Santa's attendance, our dedicated cooks Mr. Howe, Mr. Daly, and Ms. Weikel, our advertiser Coach Baloba, the lady Yeguas varsity basketball team, and supportive local families. We are excited about the upcoming activities planned for the rest of the year!
