Under House Bill 5 (passed in 2013 by the 83rd Texas Legislature), all districts are required to evaluate the district’s performance and the performance of each campus in regard to community and student engagement. Districts must assign one of four performance ratings – Exemplary, Recognized, Acceptable or Unacceptable – to the district and each campus for overall performance, including the following categories:

  • Fine arts;

  • Wellness and physical education;

  • Community and parental involvement;

  • 21st Century Workforce Development program;

  • Second language acquisition program;

  • Digital learning environment;

  • Dropout prevention strategies; and

  • Educational programs for gifted and talented students.

DISTRICT

(Criteria 1)
-Fine Arts Category Code- the District will achieve this criterion by scheduling 90% of all High School Students and 100% of all Elementary Students in Fine Arts activities.
(Criteria 2)
-Wellness and Physical Education Category Code- the District will achieve this criterion by implementing a wellness plan, SHAC, Fitness Gram and vision and hearing screenings for all students of the district.
(Criteria 6)
-Digital Learning Environment Category Code- 1:1 instruction, Wi-Fi expansion, bandwidth expansion, smart -boards, “bring your own device” for all students of the district.

HIGH SCHOOL

(Criteria 1)
-Fine Arts Category Code- the District will achieve this criterion by scheduling 90% of all High School Students and 100% of all Elementary Students in Fine Arts activities.
