🏀 BASKETBALL DATE CHANGE 📆

Due to possible inclement weather, the varsity games vs. Hearne scheduled for Friday (1/23) have been moved to THURSDAY (1/22) 🌨️

JH girls will play 2 games at home vs. Snook, beginning at 4:00. Varsity games will follow at home vs. Hearne.

Reading comprehension ➡️ group activity ➡️ everybody learns better 😎

Last week, Mrs. Daly's RLA 7th graders began reading Edgar Allen Poe's "The Tell-Tale Heart". After finishing the first 13 paragraphs, they drew a figure from the story. These were decided independently (without instruction or collaboration).

Afterwards, they worked together to accurately place them on a timeline, based on when they appeared in the story.

It was a great way to work as a team and better understand the material!

Tickets are $15 and go towards our seniors' class fund! Meals can be picked up that night, beginning at 5 p.m. in the Elementary School gym.

SALUTE TO SERVICE 🇺🇸

We were THRILLED to be visited by this week by Javen Henderson, Somerville ISD Class of 2022.

He recently completed Recruit Training, officially giving him the title of United States Marine!!🦅 This week, he visited with several of our students to share more about his experience joining the USMC.

We are so proud of you and forever thankful for your service to our nation! OORAH!!

Congratulations to our many fantastic writers at Somerville High School! ✍️

Around 60 of our seniors and 8th graders were honored with a certificate of merit, recognizing talent for writing.

Their essays were selected for publication by the Young Writers organization! 👏

A new branch of learning 🌲📝

Ms. Cochran's high school art classes fine-tuned their figure drawing skills earlier today. After working on sketches inside, her students took their talents to the courtyard.

It was a great way to continue learning while enjoying the outdoors! 🍂🍃

Our staff has spent the week discussing new goals and collaborating on ways to continue improving our educational experience.

Our students deserve the absolute best! 💫 We are beyond excited to welcome them back to campus tomorrow.

This week, we provided a special holiday lunch and distributed personal gifts to our staff members. On Friday, our team at the high school came together for a special potluck meal to celebrate the end of our first semester 😎

Several club officers from the high school program visited the elementary school to read Christmas stories to some of our younger Yeguas 📖🎄

After getting through their books, they joined the class with several holiday-themed arts and craft projects 🧡🖤 #YeguasHelpingYeguas

Spreading Christmas CHEER!! ❤️💚

At lunch today, our Intermediate School's Student Council delivered the 150 candygrams they sold in recent weeks 🍬 They even got some help from a Yegua Santa! 🎅

The student council is very appreciative of everyone who supported their candygram sales, which will help fund various events next semester! 🧡🖤 They also had the chance to celebrate yesterday with a pizza party for lunch 🍕

The winner of the High School Christmas Door Decorating contest is.... MRS. THORMER!!!! 🎉🎉

As a reward, she received a special Santa "SLAY" basket full of candy! 🍬🍭
