Today, our Principles of Health Sciences with Mrs. Eschete practiced the proper procedures for putting on and taking off personal protective equipment (PPE) 😷 This is an important step for healthcare workers, needed to reduce the spread of infections or communicable diseases.

Congratulations to twelve members of the Somerville Middle School Band for their selection to the 18/26 MS All-Region Band. The contest was held at Smithville HS on Saturday, December 6th. Participating schools included Burton, Brentwood Christian, Caldwell, Columbus, Flatonia, Giddings, Hallettsville, LaGrange, Lexington, McDade, Manor, Shiner, Smithville, Somerville, Thorndale, Thrall, Wimberley, and Weimar. The following Somerville Students were selected to the All-Region Symphonic Band (2nd band):

Kennedy Howe - Flute
Valerie Tomlin - Trumpet
Brady Eschete - Trumpet
Arieanna Alba Pena - Trumpet
Kaylee Gentry - Euphonium

The following Somerville students were selected for the Concert Band (3rd band):

All of the above students will participate in a clinic/concert at the Bastrop Performing Arts Center on January 30th and 31st, 2026. More details will follow soon.

The Tribe had some visitors join us for a special presentation today! 🦅

A pair of falcons (Crabcakes and Tsuki) visited Yegua Stadium this afternoon. Our guest speaker, Brittany Perry from Texas Parks and Wildlife, told our students several interesting facts about falcons and other birds of prey.

Crabcakes even showed off his speed around the stadium! 🐦‍⬛🔥

Please join us in welcoming our new Director of Communications and Marketing, Mr. Ben Peck! Ben comes to Somerville ISD after spending ten years as a sports reporter and journalist. Most recently, he worked with KAGS (NBC) and KBTX (CBS) in Bryan-College Station. We are excited about the expertise that Ben is bringing to our district and how he will help us share all of the amazing things happening in Somerville ISD! Message from Ben: "Throughout my career, I've enjoyed highlighting the achievements of students and teams from our local communities," he said.
