This week, we provided a special holiday lunch and distributed personal gifts to our staff members. On Friday, our team at the high school came together for a special potluck meal to celebrate the end of our first semester 😎

Several club officers from the high school program visited the elementary school to read Christmas stories to some of our younger Yeguas 📖🎄

After getting through their books, they joined the class with several holiday-themed arts and craft projects 🧡🖤 #YeguasHelpingYeguas

Spreading Christmas CHEER!! ❤️💚

At lunch today, our Intermediate School's Student Council delivered the 150 candygrams they sold in recent weeks 🍬 They even got some help from a Yegua Santa! 🎅

The student council is very appreciative of everyone who supported their candygram sales, which will help fund various events next semester! 🧡🖤 They also had the chance to celebrate yesterday with a pizza party for lunch 🍕

The winner of the High School Christmas Door Decorating contest is.... MRS. THORMER!!!! 🎉🎉

As a reward, she received a special Santa "SLAY" basket full of candy! 🍬🍭

Students from our Principles of Health Science class helped some of our 4th graders stay safe from germs 🦠❌

Our kids participating applied harmless Glo Germ dye to their hands during a demonstration on Monday. Under a black light, students could see what happened to their "germs" before and after proper handwashing.

On top of learning an excellent lesson, we LOVE seeing Yeguas helping Yeguas!! 🥹🧡🖤

Our 7th graders in Mrs. Daly's class for Reading & Language Arts are wrapped up their unit on brain science. This week, they participated in a classroom activity exploring a variety of neurological disorders.

The task helped our students focus on informative text and writing. After getting paired into groups, they each presented information about their assigned case study to the rest of their classmates.

They are making the most of every day they spend at our schools!

Using real-world applications and teamwork to help with our math skills!! 📝🧠

Last week, Mrs. Coronado's 5th graders worked in pairs to solve a handful of questions involving fractions with different denominators.

Then, each group presented to the class, explaining their method of solving the task at hand. If you can explain it, you can learn it! 👏

🎄 CHRISTMAS DOOR DECORATING CONTEST 🎄

Our judges made the rounds today, evaluating the contenders at our high school 🧐 The winning teacher (announced on Thursday) will receive a giant cup of candy to share with their students 🍬🍭

Congratulations to five members of the Somerville Band for being selected to the 18/26 All-Region HS Band. The contest was held at Smithville High School on Saturday, December 13th. The following Somerville students were selected to the Symphonic (2nd) Band:

Ryann Ricci - Bb Soprano Clarinet
Faith Fernandez - Bb Bass Clarinet

Somerville students who were selected to the Concert (3rd) Band include:

JaeLee Landolt - Bb Soprano Clarinet
Kyle Brooks - Bb Trumpet
Anette Reyna - Percussion

In addition to these honors, Faith Fernandez and Kyle Brooks earned the right to try out for the TMEA All-State Band at the Area Contest in January 2026. All five of the Yegua Band members will participate in the Region Clinic / Concert during the last weekend in January. More details will follow.

Participating schools included Burton, Brentwood Christian, Caldwell, Columbus, Flatonia, Giddings, Hallettsville, Lexington, Manor New Tech, Rockdale, Shiner, Smithville, Somerville, Taylor, Thorndale, Thrall, Weimar, and Wimberley.

Today, our Principles of Health Sciences with Mrs. Eschete practiced the proper procedures for putting on and taking off personal protective equipment (PPE) 😷 This is an important step for healthcare workers, needed to reduce the spread of infections or communicable diseases.

Our orders helped support the wonderful work at Down Home Ranch, a Central Texas community that helps empower people with disabilities.

The Tribe had some visitors join us for a special presentation today! 🦅

A pair of falcons (Crabcakes and Tsuki) visited Yegua Stadium this afternoon. Our guest speaker, Brittany Perry from Texas Parks and Wildlife, told our students several interesting facts about falcons and other birds of prey.

Crabcakes even showed off his speed around the stadium! 🐦‍⬛🔥

Our Elementary Christmas program, "All Aboard the Christmas Express", is TONIGHT at the Yegua Center! 🎅🎵
