Today one of Santa's Helpers (aka Mrs. Webb's dad) dropped off new Christmas blankets for ALL of the Pre-K students! This is the 6th year he has blessed our sweet kids and they are so grateful for the warm and thoughtful gift ❤️




Congratulations to ten members of the Somerville Yegua Band for being selected to the 2022-2023 TMEA / ATSSB All-Region Band.The contests were held at Smithville High School on Saturday, December 3rd for the Region 18/26 Middle Schools and on Saturday, December 10th for the high schools. Participating schools included Brentwood Christian, Burton, Caldwell, Columbus, Flatonia, Giddings, Gonzales, Hallettsville, La Grange, Lexington, Manor New Tech, McDade, Meridian World School, Richards School For Young Women, Rockdale,Schulenberg, Shiner,Smithville,Somerville, Taylor, Thorndale, Thrall, Weimar, and Wimberley.
The following student was selected to the Region 18/26 Middle School Symphonic (first) Band:
Jaelee Landolt - Bb Clarinet
The Somerville Middle School students who were placed in the Concert (second) Band include:

Dear Parents,
We are thrilled to be presenting the 2022 Christmas program that will include all of our music students from Pre-K through 4 th grade. There will be singing and even a play that includes a sequel. We ask that you have your children at the Yegua Center by 5:45 so that they can be seated on the floor with their
class. (The doors will be open as early as 5:30 for this.)
The order of performances will be as follows:
1. Pre-K
2. Kindergarten
3. 3 rd Grade – short musical
4. 1 st Grade
5. 2 nd Grade
6. 4 th Grade – short musical sequel
We want to see as many parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and neighbors as possible so that this is a joyous event for everyone in Somerville. The children have been working very hard to make this special for all. We look forward to seeing you there.

Today we had SFA University, Mrs. Kasey Kerlick, Regional Coordinator visit our school to talk to our Senior and Junior classes.
Today's lunch was Lumberjack pancakes! We want to thank Mrs. Kerlick for coming out to our school.
I would like to give a special thanks to Mr. Joe Gonzales (SISD school board member) He helped make the pancakes.

Pre-K recently read two Thanksgiving books, "How to Catch a Turkey" and "Turkey Trouble". Students then created a disguise for their turkey in an effort to keep it from being part of Thanksgiving dinner! Check out all of these cute non-turkeys 🤗

Today (11/11), Yegua juniors and seniors welcomed University of North Texas Senior Admissions Officer, Alyce Myers to Somerville High School. Mrs. Myers presented to upperclassmen in the library during lunch about academic programs, financial aid, housing, etc. all offered by the University of North Texas. A special thank you to Mrs. Myers for braving the thunderstorm to meet our Yeguas. Also a shout out to very special guest it attendance, school board member, Mr. Howe.
SHS will continue its round of hosting college, trade school, and military speakers next week when we host Texas State Technical College and Brazosport College next week. We hope to see you there!!

Mrs. Webb's Pre-K Pirates and Princesses Day!!!

On Monday November 7th, Somerville High School hosted Blinn College to help SHS families complete the 2022-2023 FAFSA. SHS is grateful to Celia Haley, Scholarship Advisor from the Brenham campus and Cynthia Thomas, Financial Advisor from the Bryan campus for helping our families with this important process for college financial aid.
