Due to bad weather conditions our game tonight against Burton has been rescheduled for Saturday, Feb 4th @2:15pm in Burton following the varsity girls 1:00 o’clock game. Out of an abundance of caution, Somerville ISD will be closed tomorrow, 1-31-23, and all extra-curricular activities have been canceled. We will continue to update everyone should any decisions need to be made on the status of school for Wednesday, February 1.

Monday, February 6th, is our 100th day of school! To celebrate, we are encouraging our students to dress how they think they will look at 100 years old! We encourage you and your child to be as creative as possible! Gray hair, glasses, cardigans, house coats, slacks, suspenders, slippers, purses, anything that you may see a person of 100 wearing! We hope to see everyone participate and can’t wait to see all of our cute “old” boys and girls as we celebrate 100 days of learning!

Wednesday, January 27th we had Blinn College representatives visit with our Seniors and Juniors. We do have a few seniors who will be attending Blinn this fall.
We would like to thank Mrs. Benavides-Prospective Student Recruiter, Anthony Garcia-Perkins Coordinator, John Mark Palmer-Financial Aid.
It was such a great presentation Blinn College presented to our students and took the time to help our students with any questions they had with college applications, scholarships and financial assistance.
Congratulations: Jalynn Urbanosky exhibited a Santa Gertrudis heifer at Forth Worth Stock Show and was 2nd in her class!!!!
The Somerville FFA Officers helped out at the Burleson County Agricultural Breakfast at the Caldwell Cowboy Church on Tuesday, January 24th!

The P.E.M.M. (Positive Encouraging Motivational Movement) Squad presented their group and mission to the School Board members and community at the recent School Board meeting. Their goal is to spread positivity throughout the Elementary and Intermediate campus, encouraging our students to be the best that they can be.

The Elementary/Intermediate is celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Day!
Mrs. Webb's Pre-K Class have been learning about Martin Luther King, Jr. this week and celebrating how special and unique we all are! We have also been learning about MLK's dreams and coming up with our own, as well as finding ways (big and small) that will help us change the world!

This Friday, January 13th, Steered Straight will be presenting information throughout the day to all of our students on the dangers of vaping, drug use, and bullying. Michael Deleon, a renowned national speaker and founder of Steered Straight, will also be offering a free parent informational meeting that night beginning at 5:00 in the Somerville Elementary/Intermediate Gym. Congratulations to the recipients of the 1st SISD Education Foundation Teacher Grant! Clover Cochran, Michelle Jobes, and Molly Perez have received a $500.00 grant to enhance, promote and augment classroom instruction in areas not allotted in regular budgetary funds. We look forward to hearing their success stories in future meetings regarding their grant award and how it impacted the classroom and students.
