Texas Strategic Leadership Conference: Superintendent Eric Holton, Steven Toliver, Amber Idlebird, Rebecca Coronado, Doree Holton, and Georgia Thormer assisted in a presentation sharing their experiences in the partnership with TSL and the Region 6 Service Center.

2025 Fall EOC Retest results grades 9-12 are now available on the Texas Education Agency Family Portal - https://www.texasassessment.gov/. You will need to have your student's Unique Student Access Code (or PEIMS ID/SSN) and date of birth. This also means this data should be viewable on the Somerville ISD Parent Portal as well. If you have trouble accessing your student's test results, feel free to contact us at 979.596.2153.

Reading comprehension ➡️ group activity ➡️ everybody learns better 😎
Last week, Mrs. Daly's RLA 7th graders began reading Edgar Allen Poe's "The Tell-Tale Heart". After finishing the first 13 paragraphs, they drew a figure from the story. These were decided independently (without instruction or collaboration).
Afterwards, they worked together to accurately place them on a timeline, based on when they appeared in the story.
It was a great way to work as a team and better understand the material!

Stimulating our brains by learning more about them! 🧠
Our 7th graders in Mrs. Daly's class for Reading & Language Arts are wrapped up their unit on brain science. This week, they participated in a classroom activity exploring a variety of neurological disorders.
The task helped our students focus on informative text and writing. After getting paired into groups, they each presented information about their assigned case study to the rest of their classmates.
They are making the most of every day they spend at our schools!

Last week, Mrs. Coronado's 5th graders worked in pairs to solve a handful of questions involving fractions with different denominators.
Then, each group presented to the class, explaining their method of solving the task at hand. If you can explain it, you can learn it! 👏
