Fifth Inning Plays Key Role In Somerville Yeguas Varsity Blow Out Over Normangee
Seven runs in the fifth inning led Somerville past Normangee 12-2 on Tuesday. The rally was led by singles by Eldridge and Watson, doubles by Flencher and Carter, a sac fly by Carpenter, and an error on a ball put in play by Kovasovic, which all moved runs across the plate.
The Lady Yeguas got things started in the first inning. Carter hit into a fielder's choice, scoring one run. Eldridge was the winning pitcher for Somerville. The ace lasted five innings, allowing two hits and two runs while striking out 11 and walking 2.
Somerville totaled 11 hits in the game. Eldridge, Flencher, Carter, Kaelyn Chavez, and Watson each managed multiple hits for Somerville. Watson, Chavez, Carter, Flencher, and Eldridge each collected two hits to lead the Lady Yeguas.

Girls R2 D3 Powerlifting Meet, Dublin, TX
Unfortunately, our two senior girl lifters, Kyra Watson and Jazmine Jackson, did not have the day we were all hoping for them to have. I cannot thank them enough for their dedication and effort to help me start this program from nothing. What they helped to create will go on past them for many years to come.
However, there was a very bright spot on the day. Freshman, Bree Surovik qualified for the state meet in Corpus Christi as the top 2A girl in her 181 lb weight class. I’m so proud of the work she’s put in and the years to come of her certain dominance in the sport.
