The Yegua Coffee Cart began selling and serving beverages and snacks this morning. Great job to the students for their hard work and great customer service this morning. Ms. Hampton is the coordinator for the Yegua Coffee Cart.

Good afternoon parents,
Due to the inclement weather and school cancelation, FAFSA and course selection night will be rescheduled for a later date. Please stay safe out there.

Out of an abundance of caution and due to expected unsafe road conditions through midday tomorrow, Somerville ISD will be closed on Wednesday, January 22. Classes will resume on Thursday, January 23rd, following our regular schedule.

The Athletic Booster Club meeting is being rescheduled to next Monday evening @ 6pm at First Lutheran in Somerville. All who want to help support Yegua Athletics please plan to attend the meeting. The more members and more support we receive, the more we can provide for our athletes and community.

Due to the approaching winter weather storm, Somerville ISD will be closed, and all after-school activities will be canceled on Tuesday, January 21. We will communicate a decision on Wednesday's school day status as soon as possible, depending on road conditions and guidance from local emergency management officials.

Congratulations to all of our Athletes that received their letter jackets today! Keep working hard and fighting for your Tribe!

Hello Yeguas! Last year, Somerville ISD became a District of Innovation, which allowed our school district greater flexibility in matters such as how we create our district academic calendars. This year, we focused on creating a calendar that maximized professional development opportunities for our staff at the beginning and end of each six weeks. This has allowed our staff to take full advantage of planning together and analyzing student data trends to more effectively meet the needs of our students. If interested, please review our 2025-2026 academic calendar proposals and complete the Google Form below to submit your feedback. We value your feedback and appreciate your partnership with us!

Somerville ISD appreciates all the work our board members do to ensure our big and small Yegua's are the top priority while making decisions for our district. Thank a board member today- January is School Board Appreciation Month!!!
What Do School Boards Do?
A: Local school board responsibilities can be grouped into five categories:
-Adopt goals and priorities and monitor success.
-Adopt policies and review for effectiveness.
-Hire and evaluate the superintendent.
-Adopt a budget and set a tax rate.
-Communicate with the community.

New Morning Intake Process
Beginning tomorrow, January 8th, we will implement the use of metal detectors during morning intake. This process is designed to enhance campus safety. Please plan for slightly extended drop-off times as we adjust to this new procedure. Your patience and understanding are greatly appreciated.
First-Day Morning Assembly
We will begin the semester with a morning assembly in the Yegua Center at 7:40 AM. Students should arrive on time to ensure they do not miss important announcements and updates.
Campus Expectations
Dress Code: The school dress code will be strictly enforced. Please review the guidelines with your student to ensure compliance.
Cell Phones: As a reminder, cell phones are prohibited in classrooms. Students should keep their devices stored away during instructional time.
Vaping Policy: Vapes are strictly prohibited on school property. Students found in violation will face disciplinary actions as outlined in the student code of conduct.
We thank you for your ongoing support in maintaining a safe and respectful learning environment. Please feel free to reach out to the campus office if you have any questions or concerns.
We look forward to welcoming all our students back on January 8th and starting the semester strong!
Sincerely,
Steven Toliver

Dear Somerville Parents and Guardians,
Happy New Year! As we step into 2025, I hope this message finds you and your family refreshed and ready for an exciting semester ahead. At Somerville High School, our commitment to providing a safe and supportive learning environment remains our top priority, and we look forward to continuing our partnership with you in this mission.
Beginning on Monday, January 8, 2025, we will implement a new morning intake procedure to enhance campus safety. This process will be conducted efficiently to minimize delays and ensure a smooth start to the school day. We kindly ask for your support in reminding your student to arrive promptly and follow staff instructions during this process.
High school students will now gather in the Yegua Center at 7:40 AM for a morning assembly.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Together, we can make this semester a successful and memorable one for all. If you have any questions or concerns regarding these updates, please do not hesitate to reach out to the school office.
