INFORMATION FOR BASKETBALL GAMES AGAINST SNOOK: Tuesday, January 12, 2021 Due to Covid-19 restrictions we have a limited seating capacity of 125 people on the home side of the Yegua gym. We realize the games against Snook are usually sold out, but in order to comply with the strict attendance policy per UIL, we will adhere to the following procedures in attending the game. The Somerville community attending the basketball games against Snook on Tuesday (1/12/21) will need to pick up a voucher to enter the gym and pay at the gate. Vouchers will be available for pick up at the Somerville ISD Administration office on Friday (1/8/21). Parents of players will be issued vouchers on Thursday 1/7/21. Both Head Basketball Coaches will do a head count on how many vouchers each player needs for immediate family only, and distribute them for players to take home. We realize this is an important district game and everyone would like to attend; unfortunately, we will be limited in seating capacity. We appreciate your understanding and consideration in helping us to be safe and to help us to comply with UIL guidelines. (Vouchers are not tickets, they only allow you to buy a ticket into the game.) GO YEGUAS!

1-6-21: Somerville 37 vs Bellville 51 Somerville 3-8, 0-0 Next game Tuesday 1-12-21 Snook at Somerville This was our last game before district. Non-district has been very tough on us. We've dealt with multiple injuries, players missing multiple practices and games, and having two weeks off from practice and games due to Covid issues. Our non-district schedule was very difficult. We understand that the tough schedule will help us in district play but losing takes a toll on any team. We know the real season begins next Tuesday and that everyone is 0-0. Our district will be very competitive. We lost by 14 to an athletic Bellville team. We shot more FTs than them but they made more. We only shot 38% from the FT line. We also shot very poorly from the field. We know we have some good shooters and as long as we keep working for good shots eventually shots will start to fall. Sophomore Guard Brandyn Carter & Junior Guard Verkobe Woodberry continue to play well for us. Coach Billy Ramey

12-15-21 : Somerville 54 vs Leon 47 Points: Dominic Tucker 13 Verkobe Woodberry 13 Brandyn Carter 11 Arvis Burns 8 Gardner Shivers 5 Johnny Legg 3 Game notes It was a great team effort. Arvis Burns did a great job of distributing the ball. Dominic Tucker, Verkobe Woodberry, and Brandyn Carter provided the scoring. We are always a better team when Dominic and Brandyn are aggressive and looking to score. Gardner Shivers really stepped up starting and doing a little of everything and showing the potential he has. Johnny Legg and Jesus Espinoza's first game back from injuries. Johnny"s first appearance of the season and Jesus's first game back after missing the last two games. Upcoming games 12-18-20 Rosebud-Lott at Somerville 12-19-20 Lampasas at Somerville 12-22-20 at Flatonia Coach Billy Ramey

12-11-20 Somerville 53 vs Milano 52 Points: Verkobe Woodberry 16 Arvis Burns 14 Brandyn Carter 13 Herschel Conway 5 Dominic Tucker 3 Gardner Shivers 2 Game notes: Milano played a great game. We were trailing by as many as 20 points. I am so proud of how we continued to work hard and chip away. It was a total team effort. It was also an excellent opportunity to work on our conditioning and how to come back from a huge deficient. Our only two upperclassmen, Arvis & Verkobe, gave us the leadership we needed and they both also played every second of the game. We were also short handed because Jesus Espinoza did not play due to a leg injury. Every player stepped up when needed. Brandyn Carter scored and made some great winning plays throughout the game. This is our best win of the season. It also shows how much we have grown as a team. I am so proud of all of my players. The effort is exactly what we need everyday at every practice and game. -Coach Billy Ramey

12-12-20 Somerville 37 vs Thrall 53 Points: Dominic Tucker 18 Arvis Burns 8 Gardner Shivers 6 Brandyn Carter 3 Verkobe Woodberry 2 Game notes: We were down 3 at halftime and down 4 at the end of the 3rd quarter. We simply had nothing left for the 4th quarter. Again we were short-handed. Jesus Espinoza was out with an injury and Brandyn Carter left the game in the 1st half and was unable to return. The effort was good considering how physically and emotionally drained we were from the tough hard-fought Milano game. Thrall did a great job on the boards and their zone disrupted our offense. It was an opportunity for our younger players to get a lot of varsity playing experience. This week we have 3 tough home games. 12-15-20 vs Leon JV 5 PM & Varsity 6:15 PM 12-18-20 vs Rosebud- Lott JV 2 PM & Varsity 3:15 PM 12-19-20 vs Lampasas JV 1 PM & Varsity 2:15 PM Coach Billy Ramey
