Congratulations to Aleena Isom for placing third in the ATSSB All-Region 18/26 Jazz Band try-outs this past Saturday, October 17th.. This was a recorded audition and Aleena competed with four other tenor saxophone players from Caldwell, Giddings, Lexington, and Taylor. Way to go Aleena. Due to the effects of Covid 19, this is a "paper" band only, since there will not be a live performance.

JH Yeguas vs Burton JH 10-8-2020: Congratulations on a JH Football Yegua WIN!
Under the blue-grey sky of a warm October evening the Yeguas of Somerville took the field against the Burton Panthers. The first play of the contest was a shovel pass from Ian Teague to Kason Rohrbach for a huge gain that set the tone of dominance for the rest of the evening. Just three plays later Ian Teague took the ball around the right end for the first score of the game- there would be many more to come. DeDe and KeKe Daniels would each eventually score long rushing touchdowns from more than 40 yards. Crucial 2 point conversions were scored by Jayden Leang and Gavin Williams that really put the game away. Up front the big boys, Canyon Surovik, Ryan Brown, Charlie Figueroa, Sean Sowders, Jaime Navarro, Luke Moses, Noah Sims, Roberto Garcia, and Martin Espinoza led the way to paydirt. Defensively for the Yeguas, no wrong could be done. Gardner R. Shivers, Ian Teague, Ryan Brown, Steven Martinez, Kutter Rohrbach, and Seth Neatherlin all played massive roles in the shutout victory. The special teams were special, the offense was rolling, and the defense was stifling for the Somerville Yeguas last night in the 50-0 victory.

Varsity Football Cancellation/Makeup Games:
The Varsity Football game vs Burton has been postponed. I know there are many questions right now on what will happen next. Our district has built in dates for make-up games and has a plan. However, at this time we are waiting to have a district wide meeting including all football programs before we can answer the questions on when the games will be played because it affects all teams. As soon as we know for sure, we will let everyone know. As of right now, we will be playing Snook as scheduled on October 16th at Snook. Thank you for your understanding and support of our football program.

Everyone had impressive personal times. Every runner finished in the top 20.
Gavin Williams ran a personal best time and finished in 18th place.
Andres Garcia finished right behind Gavin in 19th place.
Ariel Zamora was unable to run due to injury.
Congratulations to our medal winners.
Viviana Munoz earned her 1st medal coming in 11th place!
Orlando Ramey medaled in 16th place!
Our next Junior High CC Meet is next Wednesday at Lexington.
