You know learning is taking place when students are collaborating to find an answer. Our first year teacher, Ms. Sturdevant, had students work together on an assignment after reading a poem about Texas. Some students had never heard of some of the towns in Texas until today.
Our phenomenal counselor, Mrs. Lori Puckett, stepped in and worked with our Algebra II students today. Somerville High School is grateful for her experience and expertise.
It was a great day in PLC as we continued to study the book, Intentional and Targeted Teaching. All teachers shared their strengths and weaknesses according to the FIT model. #GrowingTogether #LearningFromEachOther

SECONDARY SCHOOL PARENT TEACHER ORGANIZATION
The SSPTO works together with school staff and parents to provide opportunities for students to qualify for scholarships, and to build collaboration between SHS staff, parents, and students in an effort to help our students be successful. Our meetings are held on the 3rd Monday of the Month at 5:30 p.m. in the Band Hall.
We help every year in the football concession stand alongside the Band Booster Club. The concession stand is an opportunity for SSPTO to raise needed funds to support our efforts. While it is not the only fundraiser we implement throughout the year, it is the most labor intensive and we cannot achieve it without you! We have five HS varsity games at home and five JH games at home. I am providing the dates of those games below in hopes that we have some volunteers to sign up. SSPTO offers scholarships to our seniors that apply and have parents that attend at least 2-SSPTO Meetings and have worked either 2-Varsity Football games OR 3-JH Football games in the concession stand.

As we commemorate the 20 year anniversary of September 11 (Patriot Day), we are asking all of our Yegua fans to wear red, white, and blue to the volleyball and football games this Friday, September 10. Let's pack the stands for both home games.

If your student requires any medication during the school day, a doctor's order for the current school year must be on file with the district nurse. This includes oral medications, inhalers, nebulizers, emergency medications and meds taken "as needed". Parents must provide medication in a properly labeled container and no medication can be provided to a student without a current order.
