Somerville ISD is thrilled to announce our new Athletic Director, Mr. Philip Roberts!
Roberts, a 1999 Graduate of Deer Park High School, has spent the last 5 years at Brenham High School serving in many capacities including Offensive Coordinator and Assistant AD. During his time with the Cubs, the football team was a regional semi-finalist twice, and made the play-offs all five years.
Roberts earned his Bachelor's Degree and Masters of Science Degree from the University of Houston. He also Interned at Rice University with the Strength and Conditioning program.
Roberts began his coaching career at Pearland High School in 2006 as the Assistant O-Line Coach. During his 10 years at Pearland, Roberts coached basketball, track, baseball, and started the powerlifting program. Roberts served as the Offensive Coordinator, Special Teams Coordinator, and Assistant Head Coach during his tenure with the Oilers. Pearland was the 2010 5A State Champion and a 5A State Finalist in 2013.
Roberts is married to his wife Katie, who is the Head Softball Coach and Girls Athletic Coordinator at Brenham High School. They have been married 7 years, and have two children Emry (4) and Cooper (2)
