Region 6 Art competition Visual Arts Scholastic Event:
Saturday, February 24, 2024 Five art students from Somerville High School competed in the Region 6 Art competition, Visual Arts Scholastic Event (V.A.S.E.). Scoring is rated on a 1 through 4 point system, a 4 being the highest and advancing artwork to the Area competition. Destiney Hill received a 4 for her work of art. She made it to the Area competition, however did not advance to state this year. Congratulations on your high score and advancing to Area.
America Esquivel, Karie Dawn Heckert, Victoria Myers, and Jharene Clare Velarde also competed with strong scores of 3. Congratulations to these five ladies for their hard work, and dedication, and for representing Somerville with strong scores in this competition. Destiney Hill, pointed to her piece during the art walk, which displays all level 4 winners of the Region 6 Art competition “Visual Arts Scholastic Event”, effectively allowing these pieces to advance for the Area competition.
