Parents: If you have not registered your child for the 2020 - 2021 school year through our Parent Portal system, it is important that you do so. In order to register you will need to go to the school website, www.somervilleisd.org, then click on the "menu", then "student registration", and then "Parent Portal." It is important that we are provided an accurate phone number and email address. Thank you very much for your support of Somerville Elementary and Somerville ISD.

To the families of Somerville Elementary School. I hope that you all are doing well. I will tell you all that the teachers of Somerville Elementary are working diligently to prepare for the 2020 - 2021 school year. I just wanted to pass on a couple of notes to you all. 1. We are requesting that all students bring a water bottle with a screw on top to school. We will not be utilizing our water fountains, but will have water bottle filling stations provided for the students. Please make sure you have your child's name on the water bottle. 2. We will only have in-person Meet the Teacher nights for pre-K and Kindergarten. 1st through 4th grades will have virtual Meet the Teacher night events. I will contact you once these events are scheduled.

Good afternoon to you all. I hope that you all are doing well. I am including a link to a survey that I would like for you to complete. As we prepare for the 2020 - 2021 school year, we are wishing to find out who will be registering their children for face to face instruction compared to virtual (online) instruction. If you could complete this quick survey I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you very much for your time, and have a very safe rest of the week. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/BSDPVHL

Students, Parents, & Staff, In an effort to keep our students and staff healthy, Somerville ISD will not host a face to face summer academic camp in July. Instead, we will provide at-home remote instruction that can be accomplished with or without the internet for 1st through 7th grade, and high school students will still be able to regain credit on-line through an online platform called APEX. If your child was chosen to participate in summer camp you will be receiving more implicit information next week on what to expect for instruction from your campus Principal. We are currently working on plans to provide every student a device from K-12th grade next school year. If you would like to access free instruction and plans from TEA please click on the link below. https://texashomelearning.org Be safe and stay healthy, Karla Sparks Superintendent Somerville ISD

Summer Learning
Students, Parents, & Staff, We planned out a very safe plan to implement instruction on campus, however; with the spike in COVID 19 cases in our county and surrounding areas we felt it would be best not to take any chances. In an effort to keep our students and staff healthy, Somerville ISD will not be hosting a face to face summer academic camp in July. We are still planning to provide at-home remote instruction that can be accomplished with or without the internet for 1st through 7th grades, and high school students will still be able to regain credit on-line through an online platform called APEX. If your child was chosen to participate in summer camp you will be receiving more implicit information next week on what to expect from your campus Principal. Please be sure to also check out the free online Texas at Home Learning platform through TEA linked here for other learning resources. https://texashomelearning.org We are working on providing a device for every student from Kindergarten to 12th grade next year. Please stay safe by staying home and as always if you have any questions feel free to contact us. Be safe and stay healthy, Karla Sparks Superintendent

Parents and Guardians: It has been brought to our attention that there has been an error on the final averages on the report cards. We have contacted Region 6, and they stated that they had an error within the program that does the grading. They have since corrected the error, and the final grade averages have been corrected. We will be mailing out corrected report cards tomorrow. Thank you very much for your understanding.

Drive-By Celebration Parade
Dear Parent/Guardian: We are preparing to celebrate students in a non-traditional way to keep everyone safe. Each of you has given consent at the beginning of the year to post your child's picture and name on our various media pages. We just want to give you an opportunity to opt-out of participating in virtual student celebrations if you do not want your child's name or picture posted on-line. If you allow your child to participate then there is no need to read any further. If you want to opt-out of your child's name and picture being posted on the district's webpage or social media page then complete the form below. If you have any questions please contact the school. https://forms.gle/2fR9TXcc8rhtQGQs5
