Mental Health Awareness- (Sept. 27-Oct. 1) - Our Social and Emotional lesson theme this week is Identifying Emotions. Self-Awareness is key to identifying the emotions that we face, whether good or bad. It is our goal to guide our students in identifying the emotions that they are experiencing, and also manage those emotions in a healthy way . Happy Monday to you! :)

Let's celebrate Homecoming Week 2021!

8th Street Road Construction Project:
Starts September 27, 2021
*Early stages of the project will be centered around city hall and the SH 36 entrance.
*Demo Road from SH36 to Ave E (September/October)


Somerville Elementary/ Intermediate will begin providing weekly food bags provided by Brazos Valley Food Bank beginning Friday, October 1, 2021. Each bag is filled with healthy non-perishable food items. If you are in need and would like for your child/children to receive a weekly food bag, please contact Amber S. Idlebird at the Elementary/Intermediate campus at 979-596-1502 or email aidlebird@somervilleisd.org.

Somerville Homecoming Parade 2021:
This year we are honoring the 50-year classes of 1970 and 1971. Help us celebrate this milestone with them with your participation in the 2021 Homecoming Parade.
We are very proud to present the 2021 Homecoming parade, themed:
“All Aboard the Yegua Express!”
When: Saturday, October 2nd , 2021
Time: 1:30 p.m.
• Lineup will begin at 1:00 p.m.
• Parade starts at 1:30 p.m.
Where:
• Lineup will begin in the American Legion parking lot, located on 8th Street.
• The parade will travel east on 8th St., to Memory Lane. We will turn right onto Memory Lane and continue toward 7th St. We will then turn west on 7th St. and travel down 7th St. to Avenue “O” and turn right behind the football stadium and end back in the American Legion parking lot.

Congratulations Football Players of the WEEK:
Caleb Hanks, Gardner Shivers, Herschel Conway, Arvis Burns, and Ross Dubois!!! Way to Go!!!


Congratulations to two members of the Somerville High School Band for being selected to the ATSSB All-Region Jazz Ensemble. Aleena Isom placed fourth in the contest on tenor saxophone. She is the second alternate. Deanna Williams placed second on tenor trombone and qualified to tape for the ATSSB All-State Jazz Band. Results for Deanna's All-State try-out will be revealed in November.
The region contest was held this past Saturday, September 18th at Taylor High School in Taylor, Texas. Other participating schools included Burton, Brentwood Christian, Caldwell, Flatonia, Giddings, Gonzalez, Hallettsville, Lexington, Thorndale, Weimar, and Wimberley. The clinic / concert for the All-Region Jazz Ensemble will be held in conjunction with the Middle School All-Region Clinic / Concert in late November. Details will be disclosed at a later date.
Congratulations again to these fine musicians. Best wishes for Deanna in her taped audition for the All-State Jazz Band.
