ABOUT THE BAND
Congratulations to the Somerville Yegua Band for receiving their 24th consecutive first division rating at the UIL Region 18/26 Marching Contest. The event was held at Giddings High School on Saturday, October 21st. The Somerville program includes "Selections from Scheherazade" by Rimsky-Korsakov and arranged by Jair Klarfeld. Judges' comments included "great marching fundamentals", "very nice solo work", and "good overall job."
The first division rating at the regional contests qualifies the Somerville Band to move on to the Area Marching Band Contest which will be held at Robinson High School on Saturday, October 28th. The Yegua Band is scheduled to perform at 11:15 am. Other bands from Regions 26 & 18 that will compete at the Area D Contest will include Flatonia (18), Shiner (18), Thorndale (26), and Thrall (26).
