Parents/Guardians of Elementary and Intermediate Students- Please take a moment to help us make improvements by completing the following survey. What if parents/guardians have multiple children in the same school or in different schools? To be respectful of parent/guardians’ time, we encourage families to complete one survey per school that their children attend. If a parent/guardian has two children in the same school, they should complete the survey based on the experiences of the older child. If a parent/guardian has two children at two different schools, they should complete one survey per school. http://bit.ly/esffamily

Dear Families, November 2, 2020 This week in Social Studies we are focusing on justice. We will be turning ourselves into superheroes by the end of the week. Today students will answer questions such as how do I help, what are my powers, what am I famous for, and what do I stand for (this should be in their folders this afternoon when they come home). I would like for this to be a family project in which you and your student design and create their superhero cape together. This Thursday, November 5th, students will be able to present their superhero identity to the class and wear their capes. Capes can be made using scraps of cloth, old t-shirts, pillow cases and/or paper, you can be as creative as you would like. Thanks, Ms. Maldonado

Hello to all SES parents. Tomorrow is the start of the 2020 - 2021 school year. I just wanted to pass on a couple of items to you all so we are ready to go for tomorrow. 1. Please send your child with a water bottle. We have installed refillable water bottle stations in the school. 2. All 4th grade students will be required to wear a mask. If your child does not have mask we will have one available for them. The wearing of a mask is optional for our PK - 3rd grade students. 3. The doors will open at 7:15 AM for our students. I am sorry, but parents will not be allowed to enter the building. Pre-K students will be taken to their class, and their breakfast will be brought to them. K - 4th grade students will pick up their breakfast in the cafeteria then report directly to their classroom. 4. The school day will begin at 7:45 AM, and it ends at 3:35 PM. 5. Students, Parents, & Staff, In an effort to keep our students and staff healthy, Somerville ISD will not host a face to face summer academic camp in July. Instead, we will provide at-home remote instruction that can be accomplished with or without the internet for 1st through 7th grade, and high school students will still be able to regain credit on-line through an online platform called APEX. If your child was chosen to participate in summer camp you will be receiving more implicit information next week on what to expect for instruction from your campus Principal. We are currently working on plans to provide every student a device from K-12th grade next school year. If you would like to access free instruction and plans from TEA please click on the link below. https://texashomelearning.org Be safe and stay healthy, Karla Sparks Superintendent Somerville ISD

Students, Parents, & Staff, We planned out a very safe plan to implement instruction on campus, however; with the spike in COVID 19 cases in our county and surrounding areas we felt it would be best not to take any chances. We are still planning to provide at-home remote instruction that can be accomplished with or without the internet for 1st through 7th grades, and high school students will still be able to regain credit on-line through an online platform called APEX. If your child was chosen to participate in summer camp you will be receiving more implicit information next week on what to expect from your campus Principal. Please be sure to also check out the free online Texas at Home Learning platform through TEA linked here for other learning resources. https://texashomelearning.org We are working on providing a device for every student from Kindergarten to 12th grade next year. Each of you has given consent at the beginning of the year to post your child's picture and name on our various media pages. We just want to give you an opportunity to opt-out of participating in virtual student celebrations if you do not want your child's name or picture posted on-line. If you allow your child to participate then there is no need to read any further. If you want to opt-out of your child's name and picture being posted on the district's webpage or social media page then complete the form below.
