Career and Technical Education

 

Career and technical education programs offer a sequence of courses that provides students with coherent and rigorous content. CTE content is aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in current and emerging professions.

 

All career and technical education opportunities in Somerville ISD will be offered without regard to race, color, national origin, sex, or disability.

The Office for Civil Rights (OCR) of the United States Department of Education requires that local education agencies (LEAs) provide career and technical education (CTE) programs, services, and activities in accordance with the requirements of the Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended; Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972; and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended. The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has regulatory responsibilities for CTE programs in Texas public secondary schools and is required to adopt a civil rights compliance program to identify, remedy, and/or prevent discrimination in the CTE programs operated by LEAs.

Somerville ISD offers career and technical education programs in Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources, Arts, A/V Technology, and Communications. Admission to these programs is based on student interest, grade-level appropriateness, and class availability

 

It is the policy of Somerville ISD not to discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex or handicap in its vocational programs, services or activities as required by Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended; Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972; and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended.

 

Somerville ISD will take steps to assure that lack of English language skills will not be a barrier to admission and participation in all educational and vocational programs.

Careé and Técnica Educación Programas

Somerville Independent School District ofrece programas de educación técnica y vocacional en la Agricultura, Comida, y Recurso Natural; las Artes, Technologias de A/V, y Communicación. La admisión a estos programas se basa en el interés del estudiante, adecuación del nivel de grado, la disponibilidad de clases.

Es norma de Somerville ISD no discriminar en sus programas, servicios o activida- des en programas de educación técnica y vocacional por motivos de raza, color, origen nacional, sexo o impedimento, tal como lo requieren el Título VI de la Ley de Derechos Civiles de 1964, según enmien- da; Título IX de las Enmiendas en la Educación de 1972, y la Sección 504 de la Ley de Rehabilitación de 1973, según enmienda.
