District Recap

The Somerville Lady Yeguas finished up their season with a overall record of 15-15 and a district record of 7-7. They ended up in 4th place in district behind Lexington, Franklin, and Onalaska.

On Friday, September 14, the Lady Yeguas finally played at home against Hempstead. The ladies got off to a bad start losing the first games 25-23 and 25-19. In the third game, the ladies had a wake up call and started playing. The ladies went to take the next three games with the score of 25-18, 25-17, and 15-12. Erica Moore had 14 kills, 1 ace and 4 digs. Lindsay Knesek had 15 kills, 7 aces, 1 block, and 5 digs. Loren Cooper put down 6 kills and 5 aces. Kimber Dowell had 98 assist, 4 aces, 4 digs, and 3 blocks. Leigh Rathjen came off the bench in the fourth game and served up 6 in a row to help the Lady Yeguas continue their winning streak in district. The ladies are now 3 - 0 in district play.

The JV Ladies came into the came with an 0-2 district record. After losing the first game, the ladies came back to win the next two, with the scores of 25-21 and 25-21. Their record is now 1-2 in district.

On Tuesday, September 11, the team traveled to New Waverly to play their second district game. The ladies started out on fire in the first game and won 25-18. They cooled off in the second came to loose 27-25. In the third came, the ladies came back to win 25-17. In the fourth game the ladies won 25-17. The team was lead by Lindsay Knesek with 25 kills, 10 digs and 6 aces. Kimber Dowell had 106 assist, 5 aces and 2 blocks. Erica Moore also put in 14 kills, 3 aces and 1 block. Loren Cooper had 6 aces, 1 block and 6 digs. Aubri Cooper had a great night with 3 blocks and 2 digs.

The JV ladies again put up a fight but came up short. The team offensive leader was Chelsea Pustka. LeJasmine Pena was also a key member in the game with her defensive ability.

The Lady Yeguas started District play against Trinity on Friday, Sept. 7th. The Lady Yeguas played a good gamed and pulled out their first district win. The ladies won in 3 games. The kill leader for the game was Lindsay Knesek with 10 and Erica Moore added 7 kills and 5 aces. The top defensive play was Cyndi Rodriguez with 8 digs. Kimber Dowell had 59 assist, 2 kills, and 2 digs. Callie Loazno played a good defensive game and pulled out 4 digs.

The Lady Yeguas JV opened up their district play also with Trinity. Although they came up short, the team played very hard. They lost 23-25 and 22-25. Morgan Maldonado led the team offense side while Patricia Munoz had a great defensive game.

The Lady Yeguas played RTC on Tuesday, we lost in three great games. The scores were 27-25, 25-23, 25-18. The team was lead by Lindsay Knesek and Erica Moore each had seven kills. The defensive player of the game was Cydi Rodriguez with 6 digs. On Friday the Lady Yeguas hosted Burton and won in three games. The scores were 21-25, 12-25.12-25. The team offensive leaders were Lindsay Knesek and Kimber Dowell. ON the defensive side Kimber Dowell had four digs. Kelsey Bizzell came off the bench and did a great job serving. The Ladies will be in the RTC tournament is week and will start district on Friday against Trinity.

It's time for another season of Volleyball. The Lady Yeguas are currently 5 - 4 in play. The Lady Yeguas played RTC on Tuesday, Aug. 28th, we lost in three great games. The scores were 27-25, 25-23, 25-18. The team was lead by Lindsay Knesek and Erica Moore each had seven kills. The defensive player of the game was Cyndi Rodriguez with 6 digs.

On Friday the Lady Yeguas hosted Burton and won in three games. The scores were 21-25, 12-25.12-25. The team offensive leaders were Lindsay Knesek and Kimber Dowell. ON the defensive side Kimber Dowell had four digs. Kelsey Bizzell came off the bench and did a great job serving.

The Ladies will be in the RTC tournament this week and will start district on Friday against Trinity in Trinity starting at 4:30.
