Somerville High Golfers completed their 2007-2008 season Wednesday when they participated in the 26-AA District Tournament, hosted by
Hempstead ISD, at Legendary Oaks Golf Course in Hempstead. The course was ready for play and the weather was great as the Yeguas took to the tee boxes.
Little Red Moreno, Charli Powell, Barbara Jimenez, and Chelsea Pustka were entered to the Individuals bracket, and when all the scorecards were collected and tabulated, Powell qualified to be a Regional Alternate and Moreno finished in the top 5. If the primary Regional qualifier is unable to play, then Charli will replace an be in position to proceed to Regional play-offs and gun for State. Congratulations to all the Yeguas and many thanks to Hempstead for an excellent tournament.
The Somerville High School Golf Team participates in the Regional Preview tournament in San Marcos, Texas, on February 25th. Varsity members Dillon Powell, Chelsea Pustka, and Dillon Brinkman will play in respective individual brackets and tee off at 8:00, at the Quail Creek Country Club to represent our Varsity Squad in the first competition of the season.
Following this tourney, they will travel on March 3rd to Willis, Texas, where they will be hosted by Willis High School in tournament play at the Texas National Course.
